Chow is that special time when you get to relax for a moment and BS with your buddies over a meal. There is a variety of chow halls and chow to be served. Plenty of hungry Marines who have eaten in GP tents with pallet flooring. Trays full of lukewarm eggs, chewy sausage patties and dried out pancake squares. A step above that is the, more permanent, FOB chow hall serving prepared food. Ingredients that’s been chopped and fried into chili mac, salsbury steak and pork rice. Then there is the gold standard of chow halls. Typically only found on an Air Force base, the multi-line is a tasting menu of fine dining. You’ll find a variety of cultures at this all you can eat gorge fest of decadence. -- at least that’s how Marines see it.
