On this episode of Cigars and Sea Stories, Mike and Bennett are talking about sandbags. It depends on how you look at sandbags, whether you believe them to be a blessing or a curse. The sandbag itself is a rather simple object. A piece of burlap or plastic fiber with a stitch of twine to hold it together. The extra thread being used to tie and secure the opening, transforming it into a silicon brick to be used as a rudimentary building material. Sandbags are used for protection. In combat they prevent shrapnel and projectiles from penetrating the outer defenses of a military structure. They also work well as recliners and couches out behind the hooch. Some chow halls require you to fill sandbags prior to entry. The filled bags are used to reinforce the defenses around the area of operation. Sandbags are also used as punishment. Enjoy the sea story gems found throughout this episode to learn more about the hate and discontent…. Filling sandbags sucks. That pretty much sums it up.
There are moments when they can really save your ass, such as during floods. Hurricanes Harvey and Irma have dumped serious amounts of water throughout the southern United States. Recent news reels show Americans banning together to hastily construct levies against the rising banks of rivers threatening to destroy their homes and businesses. Many people owe their safety to the simple sandbag.
...now if there was only a machine that could fill them for us...hmmmm…. Hey Army….yep, we got that.
Enjoy the episode and share with the whole world. Everyone. Share with everyone you know, Everybody. …..Thanks
