236: Ray Prokaski, Marine Veteran, President of Middle East Conflicts Wall Memorial

On this episode of Cigars and Sea Stories, Mike is sitting down with Ray Prokaski, Marine veteran. Ray is the President of the ILMFR which is a 501c3 organization that founded the Middle East Conflicts Wall Memorial. 

Ray Prokaski Sr. served in the United States Marine Corps from 1982 - 1992 and graduated from boot camp September 1983 in Platoon 3067. Prokaski was stationed Gary, Indiana Reserves Unit 6th Engineers.

He attended recruit training at MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina and became an electrician. Ray trained at Camp Lejeune, 29 Palms, and Keneohe Bay, Hawaii. Prokaski’s ranks were PVT-PFC meritorious, PFC-Lance Corporal time and grade, Lance Corporal-Corporal meritorious and Corporal-Sergeant time and grade. After leaving the Marine Corps, Prokaski became a union carpenter and is presently a construction superintendent .  He also focuses on volunteer and nonprofit work. He volunteered as a fireman & EMT, was a member and past governor of the Moose Lodge and member of Lyons Club and Chicagoland Toys for Tots.

Ray is currently the President of the ILMFR: Illinois Motorcycle Freedom Run, a 501(c)3 organization that funds the preservation and unfortunate growth of the Middle East Conflicts Wall Memorial. Built in 2004, the Middle East Conflicts Wall Memorial is located in Marseilles, IL and features the names of all fallen soldiers from the Middle East conflicts since 1979. It is the first of its kind in the history of the United States.

The Mission of the ILMFR is to maintain the preservation of the Middle East Conflicts Wall Memorial, honor our fallen heroes, support veteran organizations and Gold Star families.

The ILMFR hosts an annual event on the 3rd Saturday of June that includes thousands of patriots participating in a 30 mile motorcycle ride, which culminates in a closing ceremony at the Middle East Conflicts Memorial Wall and breaks out into an overall celebration of freedom.
